Donald T Summers, MD, FASCRS

Dr Summers was born and raised in Missouri, completed undergraduate studies in Molecular Biology at University of Colorado.  He returned to Missouri for medical school and General Surgery residency at Saint Louis University.  He subsequently moved to New York City where he completed Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship training at Mount Sinai Hospital.  He began practice in New York City in 2004 and returned to Missouri and has been in practice in St Louis since 2012.
Dr. Summers has held academic appointments at Weill Cornell Medical College and Saint Louis University School of Medicine.  He is board certified in General Surgery and Colon & Rectal Surgery, and he is a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and is a Fellow with the American College of Surgeons.
His practice focus is on the treatment for the broad range of diseases involving the colon, rectum and anus including, colon and rectal cancer, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, and anorectal disorders.   He also has special interest in re-operative abdominal and pelvic surgery as well as multidisciplinary approaches to pelvic disorders such as endometriosis and GYN malignancies  He utilizes minimally-invasive techniques including laparoscopy, robotics, and trans-anal endoscopic microsurgery as appropriate.
